The Beginning
It all started when Margaret and Thomas Glaivion first laid eyes on this mountain. They weren't just looking for a spot to build a hotel – they wanted to create something that'd make people feel what they felt standing there. That raw connection to the peaks, y'know? So they bought the land, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work.
Opening Our Doors
We officially opened with just 45 rooms and a small dining area. Honestly, nobody expected what happened next. Word spread fast about this place where you could wake up to mountain views and actually feel taken care of. Not just served – genuinely looked after. That first winter season, we were fully booked by November.
Expanding Horizons
Corporate groups kept asking if we could host their events, so we added the conference center. Turned out business folks liked mixing meetings with mountain air just as much as vacationers did. We brought in a spa too – because after a day on the slopes or in boardrooms, everyone needs to unwind properly.
The Valor Renovation
We did a complete overhaul but kept what mattered. New suites, upgraded facilities, state-of-the-art everything – while preserving that original warmth the founders built into this place. It's still got that feeling of coming home, just with way better beds and a killer restaurant.
Our Present & Future
We're still family-owned, now with the Glaivion kids running things. Same philosophy though – treat guests like they matter, because they do. We've got 120 rooms now, a full adventure tour program, and yeah, we've won some awards. But what really matters is when someone checks out and tells us they can't wait to come back.

Our founders had this vision back in the 80s that seems pretty simple now but was kinda revolutionary then – build a place where luxury doesn't mean stuffy, and comfort doesn't mean ordinary. They wanted guests to feel the mountains, not just see them from a window.
The Next Generation
Sarah and David Glaivion took over in 2018, bringing fresh ideas while respecting what their parents built. They've added stuff like the adventure tour program and upgraded tech throughout the property. But they still walk the halls every day, checking in with staff and guests – that hasn't changed.
Our Team
We've got folks who've been here since day one working alongside new team members. Everyone brings something different, but we all share the same goal – making sure your stay isn't just good, it's memorable. Some of our staff have become practically legendary with returning guests.
